As Funeral Celebrants we create and conduct a Funeral Ceremony that sensitively acknowledges your great sadness and celebrates the special life of your loved one. We will help you find words and music of your own choosing so that the ceremony reflects all that is precious about the life just ended. On the day of the funeral we will guide your ceremony and support you, your family and friends, as you say goodbye. From our shop, The Ceremony Shop in Lewes, Light on Life is now able to arrange a complete funeral; working in a meaningful and caring way, with ARKA ORIGINAL FUNERALS we enable people to feel comfortable and safe to make decisions about the funeral of a loved one. Arka Original Funerals is a member of SAIF, the national Society of Allied and Independent Funeral directors and recommended by the Natural Death Centre. Cara Mair is a highly professional Funeral Director and after working for several years for traditional funeral directors she felt it was time to use her skills and create a company that had at its heart respect for the deceased, care for the family, high professional standards and low funeral costs. She established Arka Original Funerals in 2003 and with other carefully selected members of her staff she takes time to listen to you and provide a funeral that you want not one that has been selected for you from a set formula. Your loved one is unique and their funeral should reflect this. We are committed to ensuring the funeral is as natural and ecological as possible and use only coffins from ecologically sustainable sources. We consider embalming to be extremely harmful to the environment and usually unnecessary. Arka’s chapel of rest is a beautiful, calming place to come and say goodbye to your loved one; we encourage you to take your time and arrange appointments to suit you. And if you wish we can assist in keeping your loved one at home until the day of the funeral. Future Planning We can help you, whatever your age, to create a Funeral Ceremony that truly celebrates your own life. It can often be emotionally difficult to talk to friends and family about your wishes fro your own funeral. We offer support and guidance, ideas and suggestions, for the funeral that you really want. Humanist Funerals We are happy to conduct Humanist Funerals. We sell natural coffins at reasonable prices, from £150 for a cardboard coffin, from £250 for a bamboo, from £450 for a willow casket and from £650 for an Eco Pod. 		We charge £200 for a Ceremony which includes an in depth meeting with you and your family, arranging telephone conversations with relatives who may not be within visiting distance, writing of the ceremony and re-writes, liaising with musicians or arranging recorded music, supporting family and friends on the day and conducting the ceremony in a respectful and beautiful manner. We also provide an attractive copy of the ceremony. For funerals outside a circle of 20 miles we also ask for travelling time of £10 per hour and expenses for travel costs and sometimes if far away, overnight accommodation. Please enquire about costs for the whole funeral, including casket or shroud, taking care of the deceased, arranging transport, taking care of legal paperwork.
