Sussex has its fair share of woods and as the seasons change so do they. You can of course head out into the woods by yourself and have a lovely time, but you may be surprised at how much you might miss doing this. SO SUSSEX take people out on bluebell walks in spring and mushroom hunts in the autumn whilst our partner, Circle of Life Rediscovery, have great activities that really get you involved in this unique and fascinating environment. Here are some of the themes that our woodland activities are based around.

Construction and tools – The materials you find in a woodland environment have long been used to build things from whistles to mallets to shelters-making.

Fire and water – learn different ways to make fire and discover where you can find water if you run out of evian!

Food and Nutrition – learn what you can and can’t eat and if you fancy yourself as a budding chef, some unique meals you can make in a woodland environment.

Games and craft – There’s no need to be bored when you can play nature awareness games that inspire and challenge, as well as crafts from natural materials e.g cordage from nettles, basket making from bark.

Traditional lifestyles – if you want to escape for a few hours come and find out how our ancestors lived.
